Week 8
Each week a member of the Pony Express staff will create a playlist for our readers to enjoy. They will cover a variety of genres and decades allowing readers to explore and discover new types of music and artists. This playlist is brought to you by Simone Reynolds, Reporter.
The 60s was a revolutionary time in the world of music. Rock and roll, pop, swing, country music, blues, and jazz continued to be popular genres, but the beginnings of rock also began to emerge. While this playlist is mainly pop ballads, it is important to recognize the influence of rock on these artists and their music. Whether it be the Everly Brothers or the Ronetts, these classic artists are sure to bring good vibes to any occasion.

![“Tanning exposes your skin to [ultraviolet (UV)] light, and UV light is a known carcinogen, which means it can alter your DNA,” Biotechnology and biology teacher Gillian Boyd said. “It can change the sequences of DNA bases. The more exposure you have, the more risk you have to develop [skin] cancer.”](https://smhsponyexpress.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/IMG_0071-1200x798.jpeg)
