About
Founded in 1968, The Pony Express is the award-winning student-run newspaper at San Marin High School. It is staffed only by San Marin students and advised by English teacher Caroline McNally. We provide eight print editions to students and subscribers over the course of each school year covering content ranging from local and national news, athletics, arts and culture as well as opinion pieces from our reporters. On our website, we publish longer versions of articles from our print issue along with website exclusive articles.
San Marin High School is a public school located in Marin County. It is one of two high schools within the Novato Unified School District.
For letters to the editors-in-chief or to subscribe to receive our print edition in the mail, email [email protected].
To place an advertisement in one of our print issues or on our website, email [email protected].
The Pony Express is self-funded and contributions are used in the production of the newspaper and for journalism education. We do not receive additional funding from our district or school site unless we apply for grants.

The more exposure you have, the more risk you have to develop [skin] cancer.”](https://smhsponyexpress.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/IMG_0071-1200x798.jpeg)
