The gym was full of energy and excitement last Saturday as San Marin held its annual homecoming dance. This year leadership chose a Coachella theme, and labeled it as “Hocochella.” The gym was turned into a fun festival with colorful lights, decorations, and music. Students arrived in their best outfits, ready to dance, take pictures, and enjoy the night with friends.
Talbot McAndrews, a senior in the leadership class, leads the team that organizes the dance.
“We usually start planning five to six weeks in advance,” McAndrews said. “I help draw a map of the gym and make sure the budget works. We also assign tasks to the rest of the class so everything gets done efficiently.”
Leadership coordinates all of the activities such as the photo booth, games (cornhole), concessions, and other activities to make the night more enjoyable for the students. The DJ kept the energy high with a mix of popular songs and classic hits that kept the dance floor packed all night.
Many students said the dance was a great way to relax, have fun, and celebrate being a part of the San Marin Mustangs community. The evening was filled with laughter, music, and energy-a homecoming dance that students will remember for years.
