The San Marin varsity girls basketball team entered senior night versus Novato High School on Feb. 6 with a record of 19-6. The Mustangs were able to get past Novato in a 38 to 15 win, securing third place in the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) and bringing them to a winning record of 20 games. The team is led by four seniors, Quincy Dean, Gracie O’Hara, Olivia Maffei, and Angela Stickle who were each celebrated for all of their success. Each senior has been in the girls basketball program for all four years of their high school career. Dean contributed 9 points and 16 rebounds, followed by sophomore Eleanna Schram, who contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds.
The Mustangs faced off against Marin Catholic on Feb. 13 in an MCAL semi-final matchup where the Mustangs fell short losing 39 to 50. The Sophomore Duo of Delany Butler and Brianna Nottingham led the way for the Mustangs against Marin Catholic, contributing 11 points each. Due to their impressive season and a record of 21-7, they were placed in Division I for the North Coast Section (NCS) Playoffs as the seventh seed, facing the tenth seed Alameda Hornets on Feb. 18. They lost 67 to 32, concluding their season with an impressive 21-8 record and finishing third in MCAL.
