Pride and Prejudice begins with the welcoming news of wealthy suitors from London coming to a town in rural England during the early 19th century. In this town lives the Bennet family, a family of seven with five daughters who are all unwed. It has always been Mrs.Bennet’s dream to see her daughter get married and she sees a chance when it’s announced that two wealthy suitors are arriving in town. These two suitors are Charles Bingley and Fitzwilliam Darcy, better known as Mr.Darcy. Bingley becomes infatuated with one of the daughters, Jane, while his friend Darcy is resigned and shows interest in no one except Jane’s younger sister Elizabeth. This is because Darcy has pride over his status and is prejudiced against Elizabeth and her family due to their lower status. It turns out that Elizabeth also holds prejudice against Darcy due to his character and entitlement. The two of them will go back and forth the whole book while becoming acquainted with each other. They continuously run into one another while purposely trying to stay away from each other. The two suitors will eventually leave town, without Bingley proposing to Jane, and go back to London. It is only once again that Darcy and Elizabeth meet when another one of the sisters, Lydia, elopes with a British officer, Wickham, who they learn from Darcy is not of good character. Darcy and Elizabeth will keep coming together over time and finding out who the other really is. The sparks between them can not be avoided and keeps the reader wondering whether they will really end up together.
