For those looking for relaxed and vintage outfit inspiration, senior Dallin Nielsen is a role model. Dallin frequently wears vintage crewnecks and loosely fitting jeans with a pair of green Nikes. He mostly wears apparel from thrift stores around Marin and Carhartt.
“A lot…I get from thrift stores- the tops. Most of my jeans are from Carhartt. The rest are from Amazon or Nike,” Dallin said.
When seeking inspiration for outfits, Dallin observes others.
“It’s just things I see, my style. I take inspiration from people around me. If I see someone wearing [a piece] I like, I’m like ‘Damn, I gotta get one of those’,” Dallin said.
Dallin’s tip for anyone looking to dress their best is simple:
“Wear what makes you feel good. That’s one of the most important parts of your day, wearing a fit that makes you feel good.”
Sophomore Jade Stanton has adopted a unique style consisting mainly of thrifted clothing – from button-downs and jorts to baggy cargos and crewnecks. She likes to find clothes while venturing outside of town beyond the confines of more popular stores in Marin.
“I go to thrift stores to just get around town but also to leave the area. It’s fun to see things you wouldn’t see in Marin. There’s so many places just on the street too, like markets,” Jade said.
Jade takes inspiration from the internet, the outfits around her, musical artists she likes.
“I take inspiration from online and just looking at others around me, and also music – mainly Tyler, The Creator, and Laufey. Any music with a story behind it,” Jade said
