After 15 years at San Marin in the front office, Registrar Janice Blair is retiring. Blair processes registration requests, schedules classes, maintains class lists, grades, and transfer attendance records. She has committed countless hours to help the school run smoothly with student records technician Laura Ramadan.
“She’s devoted a lot of years here because she loves all of these kids so much,” Ramadan said.
Blair also helped out with numerous events that most students are unaware of. She worked with retired San Marin drama teacher Linda Kislingbury to create pictures, programs, posters, and chaperone field trips and drama competitions.
“In 2007, we did Pride and Prejudice with a cast of 50 and Janice helped me create the costumes,” Kislingbury said. “It was a huge undertaking.”
Blair plans to continue to help out the drama program post-retirement and will work
alongside drama teacher Haley McFadden.
Assistant Principal Mike Casper has known Blair for the 15 years that she has been
at San Marin. They worked together to plan events and learned how to help others when needed.
“Her mindset was we all help out when needed and that really resonated with me and as a leader to make sure we continue the culture in the office,” Casper said. Counseling Department
Chair Laura Triantafyllos emphasized that Blair is a welcoming face in the
counseling office.
“She has done so much for our school, the first that comes to mind is organizing Safe Grad Night and the major Christmas Tree Recycling,” Triantafyllos said. “I am going to miss her personality, her kindness, her ability to do her job really well,” Casper said. “I’m going to miss everything about her.”
