Fantasy football is a massive part of the football season and it is something I myself participate in. It brings a whole new level of competition and excitement to the game. Fantasy football is a game created for friends and family to enjoy the football season more.
The main benefits of fantasy football for the National Football League (NFL) are to increase viewership within casual fans. According to AZEE Branding Solutions, 63% of fantasy players report watching more NFL games because of their teams. Many players end up watching their fantasy players’ teams more than their favorite team. Fans can make memories with their friends and family, make some money, and enjoy the football season.
When I play fantasy football, I, like many others, am put into the general manager’s shoes. I get to pick my team, decide who is staring, and hope my team performs well. Prior to the opening game, there will be a draft. Players take turns selecting who will be on their team. A roster generally contains one quarterback, two running backs, two receivers, one tight end, two flex players (RB, WR, TE), one kicker, and a team defense, along with five bench players.
I recommend that players not overreact after one game. For example, during week one, my quarterback Jared Goff got 12 points, while my backup QB Justin Fields got 30 points. Instead of freaking out and replacing Goff for week two, I trusted that he would perform better. Then in week two, Goff had 34 points, while Fields only had four. If I had overreacted and swapped out Goff for Fields, then I would have lost and felt like an idiot.
Another tip I would give you is to not give up three decent players just to get one top-tier player. For example, if you gave up DK Metcalf, Drake London, and Sam LaPorta for Ja’Marr Chase or Bijan Robinson, that would not be beneficial. This one excellent player will get you 20 points a week. However, if you had kept the B-level players who make 10 points a week, you would get 30 points instead of 20. Do not give away your whole team for one great player, because this will hurt you in the long run.
If you aren’t playing this year, I recommend joining or making a league next year and investing your time into making your team the best it can be, because this is what makes the football season fun.
