On Sept. 26, San Marin played the Ukiah Wildcats under Friday night lights. The first quarter was jam-packed with action, and started with an interception and touchdown by Daniel Rolovich. When a nearly 40-yard pass was sent to Ezekial Gomez, number 4, the second touchdown was scored, followed by a one-point conversion right down the middle. Next, a fumble by Ukiah was recovered by a diving Michael Giomi, resulting in a turnover. The quarter ended with Giomi again, scoring a touchdown with another one-point conversion. The score became 21-0.
San Marin began the second quarter with another touchdown by Jack Golan, although this wasn’t the biggest highlight. Freddy Reier ran nearly 70 yards across the field to score a touchdown, but due to a foul from another player, it wasn’t counted. The San Marin bleachers erupted with shouts and disappointment for the lost points. Score 35-7.
During halftime, the senior homecoming court was presented with applause from their peers. When the moment came to reveal the King and Queen, anticipation was felt from everyone. When the red balloon and rose were presented from the boxes, applause and cheers rang out from the crowd. Emmanual Gomez and Coco Girtler were crowned King and Queen.
In the third quarter, Reier scored a touchdown, redeeming the lost points from his previous attempt. An interception at the 50-yard line by Ryan Houlahan led to the final quarter.
Although Ukiah landed a touchdown in the fourth quarter, San Marin won 42-14.
