Sporting events bring the San Marin community together and senior Antonio Rodarte Garcia and junior Quinn Ostroff play a role in that community with their cameras capturing special moments at San Marin games. Both students are dedicated to giving teams publicity through their photos, and have found a passion for photography in their lives.
“Photography has helped me live life in the moment as it makes me take my time and experience what I am photographing,” Rodarte Garcia said.
Ostroff started taking pictures of his brother’s soccer team when his grandfather bought him his first camera, enjoying capturing every moment.
“I take photos for San Marin sports because I enjoy sports, photography, and meeting new people,” Ostroff said.
Both Rodarte Garcia and Ostroff’s camera work has been able to help San Marin’s media coverage and outreach. Athletic director Tyler Peterson has expressed his support for Garcia and Ostroff.
“I reach out to them for their pictures often and I will use them to promote San Marin sports teams and use their photos for player of the week as they take photos of almost every athlete,” Peterson said.
Both Rodarte Garcia and Ostroff have boosted the atmosphere at San Marin as well as helped improve San Marin’s social media by capturing intense moments of each sport.
