In the words of junior and entrepreneur Marina Mata Rivera, high school is the time to, “set your mind on anything you would like to do.” At San Marin, students do just that. VP Customs, J’adore Jewelry, and Forever Roses are all student hobbies turned businesses.
Senior Lexie Fox began her business, “J’adore Jewelry” four years ago. Since then, she has made 636 sales and received over 280 five star customer reviews on her Depop account, @jadore_jewelry. Fox assembles her custom jewelry to order, “from different charms and findings.”
Fox urges consumers to support small businesses.
“It makes an impact on the business owner. Next time you buy a product, look for small local businesses instead of big companies,” Fox said.
Junior Marina Mata Rivera’s business began when her dissatisfaction with traditional bouquets led her to question their popularity. Rivera wondered, why bother, “if they’re going to die?” The solution, “Forever Roses,” her business for which she crafts roses out of ribbon, “that will last forever.” Rivera’s handmade bouquets are available for purchase on her Instagram, @forever_roses1111.
When not playing soccer, running varsity cross country, building robots, or leading speech and debate as co-president, Senior Varun Poojary spends his time painting for his business, “VP Customs.” Poojary takes customization commissions and will add some pizzazz to nearly any surface, but currently is hoping to, “paint more cleats”. You can DM Poojary for commisions on his Instagram, @v.p_customs.
