It’s that time of year again; leaves are falling and summer is coming to an end. Now that the school year has started up with a new batch of freshmen and seniors, each shares their thoughts and reflections on their high school careers. Freshmen share their hopes and goals for the new year, while seniors reveal their regrets and tips.
Max Montaldo: Freshman
“I want a lot of people to like me, to respect me… to like what I bring to the table.”
“I do volunteer work because of my sister, who has special needs.”
“I’m doing engineering; I’d rather be independent and build rather than listen to a teacher in a classroom.”
Elizabeth Contreras: Freshman
“My hope for freshman year is to make the soccer and lacrosse teams.”
“I want to make more friends and get closer with my big sister.”
“Should I be doing volunteer work? I want to be those people at the Guide Dogs for the Blind center that just pet the puppies. I want to be a puppy petter.”
Varun Poojary: Senior
“I should have found some volunteer work when I had more time. I had nothing interesting to tell the colleges.”
“Try to do the English and history advanced placement classes. If you can get the passing scores now, it’s easy to get out of in college.”
“Science APs can be a slog if you don’t like the subject.”
Vaughn Miguel: Senior
“I regret not being able to enjoy myself more because I’ve always been focusing on school.”
“Take your art class your senior year. You want to fill out your schedule, but not with hard classes because you’ll be doing a lot of college stuff.”
“Try a lot of things; find what you like; and work hard in school. Don’t overwork yourself, but stay competitive.”
