One of the highest honors a student athlete can hope for is admission to a college for their sport. Getting scouted and recruited for a sport shows hard work, dedication, and talent. Senior Lailah Carey has been playing basketball from the age of six and demonstrates these qualities. She will be continuing her basketball career into college at CSU East Bay beginning in Fall of 2023. She shares her experience in sports at San Marin and what it means to her to be committed to college for basketball.
What obstacles have you encountered in basketball?
“One obstacle I’ve encountered is diversity. In Marin, it’s not very diverse, so I feel like whenever I go and play somewhere else, I’m always aware of that. I have to get used to it all over again since the style of play is sometimes different outside of Marin.”
What is your proudest moment?
“One of my proudest moments is probably committing to college. I feel like I’ve worked really hard to be able to get to play in college and I’ve just kept going.
