“I try to embarrass my brother by being better than him,” said sophomore varsity lacrosse player Jaxon Ryan. He and his brother Walker Ryan as well as Michael and Matthew Giomi compete not only against opposing teams, but against their siblings.
Freshman Michael Giomi shares how he enjoys being on a team with his older brother, junior Matthew Giomi.
“I think it goes both ways. We can argue about lacrosse but it also makes us closer,” Giomi said. “He started playing at a young age and I looked up to him, so I followed in his footsteps.”
Matthew Giomi reflects on his experience of what it is like having his younger brother on his team.
“Mostly on the way home we argue about who did better,” Giomi said. “We definitely have a lot more to talk about at home.”
Sophomore Jaxon Ryan agrees with Michael and likes playing on a team with his older brother, junior Walker Ryan. Jaxon was inclined to start playing after he watched his brother start in second grade.
Walker Ryan explains that playing with his brother has made them closer.
“Being on a team with him definitely makes me wanna try a little harder at everything,” Walker said. “I think in a way because we have to transport to and from practice together and we have more to talk about. I spend a lot of time with my brother.”
